The Hynñiewtrep National Youth Movement (HNYM) has called off its schedule sit-in in front of the Secretariat as they were invited for a discussion with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
The group had earlier announced to stage a sit-in in front of the Secretariat on November 4 and 7.
HNYM president Louis Dohtdong told reporters at a press conference that they were informed that the chief minister is willing to meet them on November 8.
The group is demanding 80 per cent job reservation in private companies and to create a policy for employment creation in the private sector.
Dohtdong said earlier they were offered to meet Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong. He said they rejected the offer because he will not be able to take any decisions like any other minister in the cabinet.
“It futile to discuss anything with the puppets because they will not be in a position to take decisions and we need to meet the CM face to face,” he said, adding that they will again submit a memorandum to the chief minister on the appointed date.
