Hynñiewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF), president Sadon Blah has stated that his disciplinary secretary Tarson Lymba, who was arrested for the IED blast case at Sweeper’s Colony, was not involved in the crime.
Speaking to reporters after meeting with East Khasi Hill Superintendent of Police, Rituraj Ravi on the matter he said, “I’ve been working with Tarson for the last 22 years, and I’ve never seen this person involved in any unacceptable manner. We told SP that in our opinion we are not convinced that Tarson is involved.”
Blah, who is also the HNLC interlocutor, said that Lymba had been his guide when they needed to locate places to bring the HNLC to Shillong for the peace talks.
However, he said that the organisation will not disrupt investigation into the case but if Tarson is proven innocent they will not sit idle.
Blah further claims that the NGOs have been victimised by the police from the past. “Our members were unnecessarily summoned to the police station and even my vehicle was searched for no reason at all,” he added.
The HNYF president said that the Sweeper’s Colony is an eyesore for many and that most of the government’s decision ends at a high level committee.
“The youths are angry with the government for failing to do anything about the relocation of the settlers there. That road has been blocked by government for several years now. This was done only to protect the settlers and without taking into consideration the hindrance it has caused to the pedestrians,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Superintendent of Police said investigation into the IED blast case is being carried out in utmost professional manner and that affiliation of any person with any group or NGO is not relevant.
