Rusted and damaged electricity poles are posing danger to people in several villages under Elaka Bri Sumer in East Jaiñtia Hills district.
The issue was raised by the Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation Lakaseiñ unit today who has also submitted a letter to the Sub-Divisional Officer of the MeECL in the district to carry out an inspection to check the condition of the electric poles and work out on replacements.
According to HITO, Lakaseiñ village is filled with old, rusted, ill-maintained poles that endanger the lives of people and animals.
HITO district president Deibormi Rymbai said not just the electricity poles at different places in the village but the department should ensure that power transformers installed at Lakaseiñ, Mooriap, Umkyrpong, Kseh, Pala, Mooknor, Khahnar, Larket, Samasi, Shyrwang, Mynthing, Mynthlu and Kremmyrsiang are fenced to prevent any untoward incident.
