The Ri-Bhoi unit of the Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation (HITO) yesterday inspected the under construction Maternity and Child Health (MCH) Hospital at Umran Parila and sent a reminder to the Health Minister to speed up work on the project so that it can be completed by December this year.
HITO unit president Banpynskhem Kharnaior and secretary Keny Nongrum informed that the organization wants all ongoing developmental projects in the district, especially those under the Health and Education Departments, to be completed as soon as possible for the benefit of the public.
The pressure group leaders underlined that ongoing and stalled projects in the district include the Umran Parila hospital, the AYUSH hospital at Umtrew, the Tourism Department project at Lum Sohpetbneng, the model college at Jirang, residential school at Mawtari Myrdon, polytechnic at Nongkhrah, the District Medical and Health Officer office, trauma centre at Nongpoh and others.
“The Health and Education Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh, on her various inspections, has assured that the state government is very serious in completing the ongoing projects … that have been stalled for the past few years. Therefore, HITO wants to remind this assurance of the minister concerned,” said HITO.
