Senior BJP leader and cabinet minister AL Hek today confirmed that he is one of the three probable candidates of the BJP for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat.
“I don’t know the other names. Including my name there are three candidates and I don’t know about the other two. We will see who will be the best choice from the three to contest the Shillong Lok Sabha seat,” Hek said.
Hek had previously stated that he would like to contest the Lok Sabha polls, but he had given the party’s central leadership the final say on the matter.
Meanwhile, on reports of state Trinamool Congress leaders approaching the BJP to join, he said that he is not aware of any such move and does not know whether TMC leader Dr Mukul Sangma is joining or not as he has neither met him nor discussed anything with him.
However, he said, “Our door is not just open to the TMC but for all political parties”.
