A health screening was held for residents of Thadlaskein block, West Jaiñtia Hills today, as part of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp yatra, a new central government initiative.
The day’s event was organised by the office of the Deputy Commissioner in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs.
The awareness programme was held at Khliehtyrshi. The officers from the Thadlaskein block office, agricultural officers, State Bank of India Jowai branch manager and representatives of LPG agencies, were present to help attendees understand the availability of various government schemes.
The Viksit pledge was taken by the participants, led by Dr Brightstar Langbang, the Block Development Officer of Thadlaskein.
Langbang informed that the Viksit Bharat Sankalp has been initiated by the central government to reach out to the public through IEC (Information, Education and Communication) vans. One such van will travel to 49 villages in Thadlaskein block to spread awareness about government welfare schemes.
The free health screening included blood pressure tests, tuberculosis screenings, along with smart card service.
