A health camp and cancer awareness program was conducted by the Department of Surgical Oncology and College of Nursing, NEIGRIHMS at Diengpasoh Health and Wellness Centre yesterday, to observe World No Tobacco Day.
The programme was supported by the Northeast India Association of Surgical Oncology (NASO).
Department of Surgical Oncology head Dr. Caleb Harris accompanied by doctors and nursing students offered free consultations for common ailments at the camp.
The team also offered consultation for cancer screenings which is crucial for persons at high risk of oral, breast, and cervical cancers.
A short skit was also performed to raise awareness on cancer prevention, focusing specifically on ill effects of tobacco and the benefits of quitting tobacco.
