Shillong, Jun 3: The Meghalaya High Court on Wednesday allowed activist Tennydard M Marak and his counsel to verify claims regarding the installation of CCTV cameras and signages at the weighbridges across the state.
The state government through Advocate General Amit Kumar in a report to the division bench of the Meghalaya High Court consisting of Chief Justice Justice Revati Mohite Dere and Justice Wanlura Diengdoh, indicated that signages and operational CCTV cameras had been established at all weighbridge sites.
The high court had earlier directed the state to strengthen monitoring at weighbridges and investigate reported irregularities in mineral transportation.
Granting permission for verification, the court said Dr. P Agarwal and Marak will inspect the locations and instructed the state to facilitate transportation arrangements.
