The Hynñiewtrep A’chik National Movement (HANM) has accused the state government of using the non-release of challans for the legal transportation of coal and delay in the auction of 2 lakh tonnes of coal approved by the National Green Tribunal to serve so-called ‘high level’ individuals.
HANM’s Jaintia Hills unit alleged that trucks are carrying illegal coal in the name of legal coke without hindrance because they have close connections with ministers in the state government.
Stating that everyone knows that coke is used just to cover up the illegal coal to cheat the public, HANM demanded that the transportation of coke from Jaintia Hills to other places should also immediately stop.
