Governor Satya Pal Malik today said that the government is proactively taking all the necessary remedial and relief measures to address the situation in the State amidst the havoc brought in by heavy rains.
In a statement today, the governor said he is pained by the loss of precious lives due to incessant and extremely heavy rainfall which has disrupted life in the entire state.
He also condoled families who lost their loved ones in the disaster and cautioned people against venturing out.
“I have discussed the current situation with the Chief Minister who is closely monitoring the situation and he has assured me that necessary action is being taken,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma informed Union Home Minister Amit Shah of the flood situation in the state and the extensive damage that has been caused. “He has assured of all help and will be sending a team to assess the situation. I thank him for his prompt response,” he tweeted.
