Governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar attended the prize distribution ceremony of the 50th Annual Cultural Competition 2024, organized by the Ramakrishna Mission at the Vivekananda Cultural Centre, here today.
In his address, the Governor expressed his honour to stand on the same dais where Swami Vivekananda himself once addressed the people of Meghalaya. He praised the Ramakrishna Mission for its outstanding work in organising events that celebrate and nurture talent, noting that these initiatives not only promote cultural upliftment but also contribute to the encouragement of youth participation in cultural and extra-curricular activities.
He acknowledged the mission’s exemplary services in the fields of education and healthcare, both in India and abroad, and highlighted its role in contributing to the nation’s rich cultural tapestry.
The Governor urged parents to encourage their children to participate in such competitions, emphasising that they are the future of the nation.
He further stressed on the importance of cultural upliftment alongside economic progress, stating that the preservation of biodiversity is equally vital for the future.
