The Phulbari unit of the Garo Students Union (GSU) has raised the matter of what they have termed extremely poor quality of repair of the AMPT Road near Phulbari.
The pressure group stated that parts of the road were yet to be completed in terms or repair with many sections already beginning to tear apart, just a few days after it was repaired.
“The contractor needs to pay more attention to the ongoing road repair as the situation is far from ideal. Many sections are already breaking off just a few days after the completion of repair which shows the poor materials used in repair,” the GSU said in a release.
Furthermore, the NGO complained of the construction of road bumps near the Phulbari Market area when these were supposed to be near places of worship or schools.
“We are not sure if the authorities are aware of such constructions and can’t understand why our need for such speed bumps in designated areas was ignored. We need clarity in this issue since the road repair is already coming undone in many areas,” it added.
