Two pressure groups of Pynursla area have expressed concern over non-issuance of identity cards to employees engaged by a company for constructing the Shillong-Dawki road.
The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People, Riwar Mihngi circle and Hynniewtrep Integrated Territorial Organisation said identification for workers is needed in order to differentiate them from other unregistered workers and illegal Bangladesh immigrants and also prevent any miscommunication among the company’s employees and the locals.
A letter to the Executive Director NHIDCL, Shillong was sent on March 4, 2024 on the matter but the groups said the suggestion is yet to be implemented.
