The State government would propose to the Central government for change of the scope of work under the first package of the Shillong – Dawki road project.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that the road project which was originally planned till Rilbong and beyond was not a proper flyover and now they are proposing changes so that the road towards Anjalee petrol pump can be an elevated road.
“We are taking it up with the Central government so that the elevated road reaches the petrol pump since the proposal of elevated road was not there earlier,” he said.
According to Sangma, even the officials of National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) are in favour of an elevated road in this stretch and hence the Meghalaya government is going to pursue the matter with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for extension of the elevated road till Anjalee petrol pump.
