The State government has decided to conduct recruitment to the Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) by selection from among employees serving in the State government.
According to a recent order issued by the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department to all heads of departments, deputy commissioners etc, the government has proposed to consider the cases of “persons serving in connection with the affairs of the State of Meghalaya for appointment to the MCS by selection as provided under Rule 5(1) (b) read with Rule 7 of the M.C.S. Rules, 1975, as amended”.
The employees to be considered for recruitment to the MCS must hold a degree from any university recognised by the Meghalaya government and must “possess outstanding merit and ability”.
The employees shall not exceed the age of 45 years on the first day of January 2022. Further, they must have, on the first day of January, 2022 completed not less than eight years of continuous service under the State government in a post not below the rank of Upper Division Assistant (UDA) in the Meghalaya Secretariat or offices of the head of departments or district offices or in any post under the government carrying a pay scale which is same with or not lower than that of an UDA in district offices and who are holding such posts in a substantive or temporary capacity.
The order also asked the heads of departments and deputy commissioners to recommend the names of employees fulfilling the criteria and who the heads of departments and deputy commissioners consider to be eligible to be recruited into the MCS.
Besides, the heads of departments and deputy commissioners have been asked to make the recommendation to the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department and also the up-to-date CR dossiers of the recommended employees for the last five years from 2017 to 2021.
The recommendations have to reach the Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department within November 30.
