The Meghalaya government has re-constituted the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), which will also function as the state Narcotics Coordination (NCORD) Centre.
The Inspector General of Police (CID) will be the Chairman, Assistant IGP (Re-Orgn) as Member Secretary and Commissioner of Excise, Deputy IGP (Eastern Range), Deputy IGP (Western Range), Superintendent of Police (CID) Shillong, SP (East Khasi Hills), SP (East Jaiñtia Hills), SP (West Jaiñtia Hills) and others as members, a press release stated today.
The ANTF will dedicate itself to three-fold objectives – to take preventive measures against drug trafficking and undertake issues for action and criminal prosecution of all those including in drug peddling, supply and distribution; to conduct mass awareness campaign and people’s participation in drive against drug menace; and to coordinate closely with other stakeholders, agencies, departments, etc, at both the state and central levels to achieve the above objectives in a manner that contributes to the vision of a drug-free India.
