Governor Brig BD Mishra (retd) visited Jowai and met the district heads and heads of departments and interacted with them yesterday.
The Governor encouraged the district heads to ensure that government schemes reach all beneficiaries, that they are properly implemented and that beneficiaries get the full benefits of the schemes.
He also emphasised on the need to ensure equitable distribution of development benefits across all districts.
Additional Deputy Commissioner PK Boro thanked the Governor for his support and guidance in ensuring that these development schemes are properly implemented.
Brig Mishra also visited the famous Durga Temple and monoliths of Nartiang.
Meanwhile Governor Brig BD Mishra (retd) also visited the North-Eastern Hill University campus in Tura where he inaugurated a 94-room, double-bedded girls’ hostel.
Brig Mishra was received by NEHU Vice-Chancellor Prof PS Shukla.
Subsequently, student entrepreneurs presented their ideas to the Governor about starting their own businesses and scaling them up to become profitable.
Later in the day, officials from West Garo Hills and the Governor held a brief discussion about the developments in the district.
