The Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya arrested a 62-year old Bangladeshi national along with gold biscuits worth Rs 17, 57, 748 along in the international border in West Jaiñtia Hills district.
The person identified as Md. Hason Ali was apprehended near the ICP Dawki when he illegally crossed the border and heading towards the Dawki main market, BSF officials said.
During preliminary inquiry the BSF said, he revealed that he took the three gold biscuits weighing 348 gms from Mahajanpatti area of Sylhet district in Bangladesh and wanted to sell the consignment at Guwahati, Assam.
BSFO Public Relations officer Raj Singh Kataria informed that the seized gold biscuits have been handed over to the customs office in Dawki and the person to the police for further legal proceedings.
“BSF is taking strict steps to stop smuggling along the India- Bangladesh border. Troops are vigilant on border 24×7 days and the intelligent network is geared up,” he said.
