Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Minister Alexander Laloo Hek today attended the third anniversary of the Ïakyrshan Cluster Farmer’s Producer Multipurpose Cooperative Society celebration and officially inaugurated the Ginger Processing Unit at Tyrso village.
Mawhati MLA Charles Marngar, M.K Kharmudai, AGM and District Project Manager, R. Sten, Sordar of Tyrso Pyllun, Society President Iohilut Lyngdoh, society members, and community leaders and residents attended the event.
The celebration was a milestone for the society, which has provided support and empowerment to the local community, especially women.
The Ginger Processing Unit will be managed by the Society with financial support from the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency.
In his speech, Hek commended the dedication of the society that enabled it to establish the processing unit, a valuable resource for the farmers in the region. He said farmers of the district will benefit through the unit as it will improve agricultural activities and livelihoods.
He encouraged the society and the village authorities to work together in making the Ginger processing unit functional and emphasized the importance of understanding the value of government support, noting that collaboration can lead to many impactful projects that will benefit the community.
