The NPP has today announced its first list of candidates for the upcoming elections to the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
The list of sixteen candidates was cleared by the election committee of the party headed by party legislator Thomas Sangma.
The candidates included Albinush R. Marak (Siju), Sengbath R. Marak (Silkigre), Wenison Ch. Marak (Rongrikkimgre), Sengchim N. Sangma (Gasuapara), Semford B. Sangma (Tura), Sanjip T. Sangma (Dengnakpara), Linekar K. Sangma (Nogorpara), Premananda Koch (Zikzak), Benedic R. Marak (Raksamgre), Dhormonath Ch. Sangma (Naguapara), Grahambell A. Sangma (Jengjal), Sukharam K. Sangma (Rongrong), Dolly K. Sangma (Damas), Brilliant R. Sangma (Samandagre), Henen R. Sangma (Darugre), Denang T. Sangma (Williamnagar).
Elections to the 29 seats of GHADC will be held on April 9. Counting of votes will take place on April 14.
Recently, the Congress had released the first list of 17 candidates for the polls.
Meanwhile, the District Council Affairs Department of the State government has issued the model code of conduct for the guidance of political parties and candidates for the GHADC election.
The model code of conduct shall be applicable in all areas under the jurisdiction of the GHADC and will take effect from March 8.
