The Garo Hills Youth Solidarity (GHYS) Rongjeng Unit has condemned the completion claims made by the contractor of the Tesokgittim Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
According to the group, the work executed by the contractor falls short of expectations as 20 per cent of the households are left without tap connection.
The contractor has put up the completion sign board in front of the old water tank constructed by PHE department prior to the commencement of the JJM project and no villager including village water sanitation committee have knowledge about its completion, the GHYS stated.
The group also said that the JJM water tank and pipes are small, which has no capacity to distribute water for the households.
The GHYS intends to move the court against non-compliance of the JJM implementation guidelines by the contractor or by the department.
