Nongpoh, Jan 5: In its effort to preserve and promote the traditional customs and culture of the Garo community residing in the Killing area up to Iongkhuli, the A-chik Cultural Club Killing today organised a special cultural programme for the Garo people at Killing village in Ri Bhoi.
The programme featured competitions in traditional dance, singing, indigenous attire, and other cultural events.
Cabinet Minister Sosthenes Sohtun, who is also the MLA and MDC of Jirang, along with other prominent members of the Garo community, attended the event.
Sohtun in his address lauded the leaders of the organisation for taking the initiative to organise the event, which plays an important role in preserving traditional customs and culture, while also fostering unity among the Garo community living in the region.
