The state government plans to recruit more than 3,000 new police personnel as it seeks to end the drastic shortage of staff.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who also holds the Home portfolio, said today that the process of police recruitment is in its final stage and the advertisement is almost ready to be issued.
“If not this year, we will surely come out with the advertisement early next year,” he added.
The recruitment will be for all ranks of police, including Sub-Inspectors, armed branch constables and unarmed branch constables, including firemen and Meghalaya Police Radio Organisation (MPRO) operators.
