In line with the central government’s Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme, to foster stronger connections and promote mutual understanding among people from different states and Union Territories, a cultural evening was held at Raj Bhavan, Shillong to commemorate the Foundation Day of Meghalaya, Tripura and Manipur.
Governor Phagu Chauhan graced the occasion as the chief guest in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary, Dr. Shakil P. Ahammed and Commissioner and Secretary Dr BDR Tiwari.
The evening commenced with a poignant tribute to Meghalaya’s eminent freedom fighters- Tirot Sing, Kiang Nangbah, and Pa Togan Sangma, their sacrifices enshrined in fragrant memories.
In address, Tiwari delved into the historical chronicles leading to the formation of these states and also accentuating their commendable strengths.
A kaleidoscope of cultural performances showcased the rich heritage of all the three states.
The program was organized by Raj Bhavan in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture along with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Shillong.
