The Chief Minister’s Youth Centre project which is known for its holistic approach towards alternate education, added a third component to it’s working in Meghalaya – Football.
For the football component, the CMYC project is partnering with Infinite Solutions, a Shillong based NGO who is working with football as a tool for societal development. Infinite Solutions is particularly famous for the renowned football Baby League in the city, a statement here said.
Football is the third sport that was added to the sports component of the CMYCs. Although in its pilot stage, the sport is expected to add more value and outreach to the alternative educational program of the CMYCs, making physical education a crucial aspect of holistic development of the youths in particular.
The inaugural programme was held at the CMYC, Umling today in the presence of MDC Balajied Rani, Rangbah Shnong of Umling, Comenson Wahlang and the Sports and Cultural Club President of the region, Jayson Lennox Nongrum.
Rani spoke on the various components of the CMYC project. He stressed on the fact that there is a huge reservoir of talent in the State, especially in the region.
“Talent is important. But without hard work, it doesn’t get you anywhere,” he emphasised. With such centres in the region, he urged the community present at the event, to use the CMYC at Umling and Saiden in the best possible way.
Without the community’s participation, he said, the CMYC with all its noble endeavours will not be able to help the people much. He also congratulated the CMYC team and the implementation partners for providing an alternative to the growing dependency of the general public on government jobs.
