The Federation of Khasi, Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) will hold its rally against unemployment in the city on Friday.
The rally will begin at Motphran at 11am and conclude at Fire Brigade Ground, following which a public meeting will begin at 2pm.
The Garo Hills unit of the pressure group has backed the rally and said that similar demonstrations will also be held in the western part of the state at later dates if the state government does not improve youth employment opportunities.
“It is a pity that the youths who are the future of any society are not being provided sufficient opportunities to hone their talents and earn their rightful place in the society. Thus, it should be the imperative of all youths to demand what is being denied to them, and demand for what rightfully belong to them in a democratic manner,” Garo Hills zone president, Pritam Arengh said.
He said the rally is a testament that the youths will not hold back anymore if any government fail to provide what they rightfully deserve.
