Just before the state government introduces a bill to punish civil servants who fail to provide services to the public, the South West Khasi Hills unit of the Federation of Khasi Jaiñtia and Garo People (FKJGP) served a one-month deadline to the administration to transfer one Dr P Warjri, the Medical Health Officer of Ranikor Community Health Centre, on the grounds that she was negligent in her duty.
The local FKJGP General Secretary, Balse Kharbani, alleged that Dr Warjri kept her patients at the centre waiting for an inordinate amount of time before seeing her. Kharbani also claimed that other doctors were guilty of similar practices.
“When I tried to make a video on this matter Dr Warjri appeared and questioned me on the video I was filming and used very harsh words against me,” he alleged.
