East Jaiñtia Hills police tracked down and arrested a drug supplier from a house at Demthring, Madanriting in Shillong today.
Additional Superintendent of Police, Baraplang Jyrwa said police team had arrested one Lalduhwami Ralte from Ladrymbai and recovered 55.68 grams of heroin packed in five soap cases in black polythene inside a black backpack.
Lalduhwami was on her way to ferry illegal contraband from Mizoram to Shillong in a tourist Tata Sumo (ML05 K 2432) sent by one Lathazuali Ralte this morning, Jyrwa said, adding based on credible information she was detained at Ladrymbai near Friend Hotel.
The arrested woman then led the East Jaiñtia Hills police to Shillong where Lathazuali was arrested from a rented house.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Khliehriat PS.
Meanwhile, East Jaiñtia Hills police also three persons in two separate drug busts in the district and seized 161 kilograms of marijuana.
In the first case, the arrested accused has been identified as Laxmindar Gour of Narendrapur, West Tripura.
Police said the person was arrested from Damcherra, Kuliang by the staff of Umkiang PP when he was crossing from the area on a Honda City bearing registration number AS-06-V-8941. The team found approximately 84 kgs of marijuana wrapped in brown tape concealed inside the vehicle.
In the second case, Md. Hachan Mia (37) and Mid. Ajir Hosen (35), both of North Tripura, were arrested while crossing the checkpoint at Damcherra, Kuliang on a Mahindra KUV 100 bearing registration number AS-12-P-2301.
Police team recovered 77 kilograms of marijuana from their possession.
Cases have been registered against the accused under sections of the NDPS Act at Lumshnong police station.
