The ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra Ri-Bhoi today organised day-long training programme on ‘Integrated Fish Farming System’ on its campus at Umiam for farmers of the district.
The programme was held under the Technology Demonstration Component of the National Innovation on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) project, which is being implemented by ICAR-KVK Ri-Bhoi at Thadnongiaw village under Bhoirymbong block.
Speaking on the occasion, M Mokidul Islam, principal scientist and head of the KVK, highlighted the initiatives of the KVK with respect to NICRA and handed over the fingerlings to selected farmers.
Bankitkupar Mukhim, SMS Fishery Science, gave an elaborate and thorough lecture on how to gain maximum benefits through integrated fish farming by incorporating different kinds of livestock and crops with fisheries, which will minimise the cost of production and maximise profit.
Ten farmers from the Thadnongiaw were present at the event during which 5,000 fingerlings were distributed to them.
