A field level financial literacy event was held at Shuthim in Pynursla today on the various aspects and benefits of banking and financial awareness.
Around 80 participants comprising of farmers, members of SHGs, small entrepreneurs, and others participated in the programme.
Official from RBI, Shillong briefed the participants on the various safety measures and the do’s and don’ts for safe digital banking, customer liability in case of fraudulent transactions, grievance redressal mechanism in the banking system, new developments in the field of digital transactions, viz., UPI, BHIM, USSD, etc.
Various initiatives undertaken by the institutions for deepening financial inclusion were highlighted during the programme. LDM and other bank officials also spoke on the occasion as per the local need of the participants and the avenues available in deposits and credit facilities and other government schemes.
Meghalaya Rural Bank, MCAB, SBI and HDFC set up counters for enrollment in Social Security Schemes and note exchange for the benefit of the participants and the local people.
Reserve Bank of India, Shillong Deputy General Manager Navneet Singh Nagar inaugurated the programme which was also attended by GM (O-i-C), NABARD, Lead District Manager, officials from BDO’s office, MSRLS and other officials from banks operating in the area.
