Shillong, Dec 2: The State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) of Meghalaya will organise a comprehensive awareness and assistance camp focused on the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund (DEA Fund) on December 5, beginning from Eastern West Khasi Hills district.
The camp to be held in partnership with the District Administration is part of “Your Money, Your Rights” campaign under the Ministry of Finance, which seeks to reunite citizens with their forgotten or unclaimed financial assets.
The DEA fund initiative is designed to protect the financial rights of every citizen across the nation. Many families remain unaware that they have legitimate claims to their financial assets, which have often been accumulated over years or inherited from deceased relatives, leaving substantial wealth inaccessible to its rightful owners, a PIB release said.
The initiative promotes financial literacy by helping citizens understand their depositor rights, maintain updated KYC records and access essential services easily.
The Eastern West Khasi Hills camp will host banks, insurance firms, pension departments, SEBI and IEPF with trained officials providing on-the-spot assistance at dedicated counters.
The program is being implemented across all districts of Meghalaya in a phased manner, with camps scheduled to continue until December this year.
