Shillong, Aug 28: A father and daughter from Meghalaya both secured top prizes in the 1st Andaman and Nicobar International Open FIDE Rated Chess Tournament, the Meghalaya Chess Association informed today.
Silseng N Marak secured first position in the rating below 1700 category, while his daughter Cheaha Nikgame G Momin bagged first place in the female U-13 category. This tournament ran from August 23 to 28 at Port Blair.
Meanwhile, two other chess players secured prizes at the 2nd Guwahati Smart City International Open FIDE Rating Chess Tournament earlier this month.
Nikman G Momin took second place in the U-14 category and Silkam A Sangma fifth place in the rating below 1850 category. This tournament was held in Guwahati from August 4 to 8.
