Cabinet minister AL Hek today inaugurated the first of its kind fast charging station for electric vehicles at the Bharat Petroleum petrol station in Jorabat, Ri-Bhoi.
The 30KW recharging station here was inaugurated in presence of the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi, MB Tongper.
Hek lauded the initiative of the BPCL, saying that it will reduce pollution in the state. As Meghalaya’s main tourist draw is its wonderful environment, such a measure counts towards making the state greener.
BPCL has launched 17 new charging stations at three major highway corridors from Guwahati to Dibrugarh, Guwahati to Serampore and Guwahati to North Lakhimpur. The company will also create charging facilities in Nongpoh, Mawiong, Shillong and Jowai as well as Silchar in Assam and Aizawl in Mizoram.
