Trinity Saioo, who was recently awarded the Padma Shri by the President of India, was today felicitated by the farmers of Ri-Bhoi.
Saioo had been bestowed with the award for her efforts in promoting the cultivation of turmeric in Jaiñtia Hills.
The farmers from Ri-Bhoi, under the banner of the Hill Farmers Union of Nonglyndoh area and Pahammawlein unit, felicitated her and expressed their joy and happiness for her achievement.
Savington Makri, the president of the HFU Nonglyndoh area, welcomed her and said that being the recipient of the Padma Award is a matter of pride and happiness for the farmers of the state.
He also congratulated her and hoped that she will work together with the farmers to promote agriculture in the state.
Saioo also extended her special thanks to all the farmers of Ri-Bhoi for welcoming her on her way back home and assured them they will work together to boost the farmers in the agriculture sector.
Meanwhile, the members of the Consumers’ & Farmers Protection Cell of the Khasi Students’ Union also welcomed and felicitated Saioo from Umsning when she arrived from New Delhi.
