PHE Minister, Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar has appealed against exaggeration about criminal acts and incidences that disturbs peace and harmony of the State.
“Any person who commits an offence is a criminal and should be branded a criminal and not from any particular society or community,” Tongkhar said speaking to reporters in Mawkyrwat on Saturday.
Reacting to the recent group fight in Golflinks in which two persons from South West Khasi Hills district were injured, the Mawkyrwat MLA said, “In such incidences we cannot simply blame a community be it a Khasi or a non-Khasi.” He said such blames and exaggerations leads to a communal flare up, which would harm the community and the State as a whole.
Tongkhar said the two youth injured at Golflinks are Phershonroy Myrthong and Thrangdashisha Thongni from Wahkaji.
Expressing concern over the Golflink incident Tongkhar urged the police department to take strong action against perpetrators of such acts and to nab culprits responsible.
It may be mentioned that East Khasi Hills police yesterday confirmed that there was no communal angle in the assault of youth in Golf Links, which occurred on Sunday evening.
