Former Assembly Speaker Abu Taher Mondal will officially join the NPP tomorrow.
He will be welcomed into the party at a special function at the NPP office here where Chief Minister and NPP president Conrad Sangma and other party leaders will be present.
Mondal resigned from the primary membership of the Congress on November 29.
He represented Phulbari constituency from 2013 to 2018.
NPP sources said that Mondal would be the NPP candidate in the 2023 Assembly elections from Phulbari.
Current NPP legislator from Phulbari, S G Esmatur Mominin is likely to join the BJP and contest the 2023 polls.
