Former Sohiong MLA Nit Shabong passed away today at his home in Sohiong. He was 84 years of age.
Shabong first won the Sohiong Assembly Election in 1983 from the Congress. In 1988 he lost the seat to Late HDR Lyngdoh, who had contested from the HSPDP.
After leaving the Congress, the former Sohiong MLA was associated with many political parties including the BJP.
His son, S Osborne Kharjana is contesting the adjourned Sohiong election from the Congress.
Shabong is survived by his wife, ten children and many grand children. His funeral will be held at Presbyterian Church cemetery at Kynsew village on Sunday.
