The Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP) today decided to extend support to the United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate Eugeneson Lyngdoh for the Mawphlang by-election.
He also said that the party will reach out to UDP to hold the Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) meeting, a pre-poll alliance formed before the assembly election in 2018.
Pangniang said that the meeting will discuss strategies to move forward with campaigning for Lyngdoh.
The HSPDP also informed that to commemorate its 53 years of existence, the party will pay tribute to all volunteers who were involved in the Hill State Movement.
Pangniang also said that the party will hold its general council meeting in the first week of December to elect its new office bearers.
Meanwhile, they did not want to put up their candidates for the bye-polls because they wanted to work together with the UDP.
“We will work together at the moment since we are yet to come to an agreement on unification (of regional parties). We want to show to the public that the regional parties are united. In the larger interest of the people of the state we will work together with every regional party,” he added.
