There are 21,86,151 voters in Meghalaya, as on October 3 this year, some 25,022 more than at the start of the year, the state Chief Electoral Officer, BDR Tiwari, informed today.
However, the figure is provisional as it is subject to claims and objections, which can be filed from tomorrow until December 9 this year.
Tiwari said that there are “10, 81,006 male voters, 11,00,5142 female voters and three third gender voters.” The total service voters are 3,848.
In January, after claims and objections were processed, the total number of electors in Meghalaya stood at 21, 61,129, with 10, 68,801 males, 10, 92,326 females, two third gender voters and 3,844 service electors.
After processing claims and objections, the final electoral roll will be published on January 5, 2024.
Tiwari also informed that there were 3,482 polling stations, with 32 new polling stations having been proposed and two polling stations merged. The revised total is thus 3,512.
