The National People’s Party (NPP) values party loyalty, service to the people and winnability and these are the main criteria in choosing its candidates for the next state elections, which are due by March 2023.
Party president and Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said that the NPP is working hard and will not take any opponents lightly.
“Let’s hope for the best as elections are always tough. I’ve always said that one cannot take anything for granted and one cannot take elections as easy and one cannot take your opponents lightly. Every opponent is a serious opponent,” he said.
On the criteria for picking candidates, he said that it is a question of “mixing and matching”.
