The East Jaintia National Council (EJNC) has extended its support to the Jaintia Hills Truck Owners Association, which is protesting against the cement factories’ non-implementation of the new carrying rate of Rs 7 per tonne-per kilometre.
Vice-president of the EJNC, Ency Shadap, said truck owners are facing hardships because the prevailing carrying rate paid by cement companies in East Jaintia Hills is too low.
“We demand the Jaintia Hills Cement Manufacturers Association to implement the new carrying rate,” he said.
