Wailong in Sutnga village under East Jaiñtia Hills is without power for two weeks that has also hit the community health centre there.
The matter was taken up by Jaiñtia National Council (JNC) led by information secretary, Mebanteilang Sukhlain who met with the executive engineer of the MEPDCL, Khliehriat division.
Sukhlain said the organisation was told that there was a breakdown of the power transformer caused by heavy rain and strong wind.
While refusing to accept the explanation the JNC said, “Rain is an excuse during the monsoons while depleting water level during the winter months. Yet they continue to charge consumers with no mercy.”
Seeking installation of a new transformer the JNC said the executive engineer assured that a report will be submitted to the higher authorities.
