Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated across the State with religious fervour and enthusiasm on Saturday.
Dressed in new clothes, Muslims offered prayers in the morning in their respective mosques, with the largest congregation being held at the Madina Masjid called the glass mosque in Laban, here.
The Imams called for peace, harmony and brotherhood while extending wishes and greetings to the people on the occasion of Eid, marking the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan.
After prayers, Muslims visited the houses of relatives and friends to greet them. Guests were treated to “sheer khorma” (sweet made of vermicelli, milk and dry fruits) and other delicacies.
Governor Phagu Chauhan and Chief Minister Conrad Sangma offered their greetings to all Muslims on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
“Heartiest greetings to everyone on Eid-al-Fitr. May this special occasion strengthen peace and harmony among our communities,” Sangma tweeted.
