The ‘weekend lockdown’ in East Jaintia Hills will be extended into Monday and only end on Tuesday morning, the Deputy Commissioner has ordered.
Transit through the districts towards other North East states is permitted, government offices will function at reduced capacity, construction work will be permitted only if the workers reside on the premises, banks and post offices can open with minimal staffing and home delivery services of essentials will be permitted.
However, the areas of Khliehriat East and West, whole of Ladrymbai, Sookilo, Mynkre, Umpleng, Nongjri, Jalapher market areas and Umkiang market will be closed, except for medical shops. Roadside dhabas and tea stalls can only offer takeaway service. Standalone shops selling essentials in localities that do not have Covid-19 cases will be regulated by the Waheh Chnong concerned.
