The Meghalaya Early Childhood Development (MECD) and Rescue Mission in collaboration the office of the Block Development Officer, Saipung C&RD Block organised a sensitisation on Early Childhood Development (ECD) Mission and Rescue Mission at Latyrke camp office yesterday.
Additional Deputy Commissioner JU Kharpuri, BDO of Saipung Dr. R Pyrtuh, District Medical & Health Officer Dr. D. Shylla, other line department officials, traditional heads and people of the area attended the programme.
During her speech, Kharpuri emphasised on the importance of development of children from early childhood till they attain the age of 8 years and impressed upon the gathering to make it a point to spend quality time with their respective wards and to also lead by example for their children to emulate as they grow.
She also expressed hope that participants at the convention would spread the message about the importance of Early Childhood Development to their respective households in particular and the community at large.
During the programme, resource persons representing different government departments deliberated on various topics covering the education sector, POSHAN Abhiyan, Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) etc, and activities including ECD ice breaking, discussions and interactions, brain development games, brain wiring games and learning through play were organised.
An introductory video on ECD as also a video on the roles of the community was also screened during the programme.
