The Drug Reduction, Elimination and Action Mission (DREAM) of the Meghalaya government has expanded its efforts to combat drug abuse to Garo Hills.
A meeting was held yesterday led by DREAM Mission Director Francis G Kharshiing, which was attended by the Superintendent of Police, Additional Deputy Commissioner, District Social Welfare Officer, psychologists, community leaders and representatives from NGOs.
Kharshiing emphasised the need for a multifaceted approach to address the drug crisis. Action points discussed included destigmatising drug users, utilising technology to facilitate access to rehabilitation centres and implementing vocational training initiatives to provide youth with employability opportunities.
