The District Level Children’s Science Congress was held here today on the theme ‘Understanding Ecosystems for Health and Well Being’.
It was organised by the State Council of Science, Technology and Environment (SCSTE) Meghalaya in collaboration with the District Planning Office of West Jaintia Hills, supported by the National Council of Science and Technology Communication and the state Planning Department.
Selected teams will represent the district at the State Level Children’s Science Congress to be held on November 14-15 at Shillong College. The teams selected were Marian Hills Higher Secondary School (junior category), St Peter’s Secondary School, Barato; Modern Secondary School, Ialong; North Liberty Higher Secondary School, Jowai; and Adventist Higher Secondary School, Khliehtyrshi (all senior category).
Dayamon Diengdoh, Programme Officer from the SCSTE Meghalaya, motivated the students to actively participate and make the most out of the event to develop their knowledge and skills. The evaluators of the competition were two eminent professionals – CP Syiem, retired Research Officer in the Planning Department, and Rahul Chatterjee, SCSTE core committee member and school teacher.
