Shillong Sep 2: A training program on disaster management and first aid was held at the new conference hall of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) attended by officers from various departments and local tour guides from nearby areas.
Organised by the District Promotion Tourism Society in collaboration with the District Disaster Management Authority, East Khasi Hills, and the office of the Tourist Officer and Tourist Information Centre, Mawkdok, the training programme aimed to promote disaster preparedness and response among local communities, tour guides, and stakeholders in the tourism industry.
The training was conducted by members of the Indian Red Cross Society, who covered essential life-saving skills such as CPR, handling of heat stroke and sun stroke, preparation of ORS, drowning rescue techniques, treatment of snakebites and dog bites, methods to control bleeding and apply bandages.
The session proved useful in enhancing awareness and equipping participants with practical knowledge to handle emergencies effectively.
ADC in charge SDO (Civil) M.A. Challam emphasised the importance of preparedness and quick response during emergencies.
