All the respective deputy commissioners and chairpersons of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) have identified areas for the state level mock exercise to be conducted by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department and Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority, in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
In East Khasi Hills the mock exercise will be held on March 20 in Shillong and simultaneously in all districts and sub-divisions.
The places identified are Buddha Vidya Ninetan Secondary School, Polo, Office of the Soil and Water Conservation, Lawmali, Polo Hills residential area, Market Complex, Polo, Longkmie Gas Agency, Nongmensong, Star Service Station, Mawpat Wahheh, Pynthorumkhrah approach Bridge near B.K. Bajoria, School, Wahingdoh locality and Police Quarter Reserve.
The Incident Command Post and Planning Section will be stationed at Polo at the entrance of SRGT parking lot, Staging Area, Camp, Logistic Section will be at SRGT parking lot, Medical Post at SRGT parking lot and Polo Market Taxi Stand and Relief Camp will be set up at Shillong Secondary School, Polo.
All line departments will participate in the mock exercise as well as the Indian Red Cross Society and volunteers from Aapda Mitra, NCC, NSS and NYK, Civil Hospital, Ganesh Das MCH Hospital, Bethany Hospital, Nazareth Hospital, Woodland Hospital, Dr. H. Gordon Hospital, Super Care Hospital and NEIGRIHMS.
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has requested the public to cooperate with the arrangement made by the district administration and allow the ambulances, fire tenders, rescue parties to perform their duties.
In West Garo Hills, a table top exercise has been planned on March 18 before the mock exercise.
The mock drill sites have been identified at the District Council Office Building, Tura, Tura Civil Hospital, Tura, Tura Super Market, St. Xavier’s Secondary School, Tura, and Deran Gittim, Tura.
The Incident Command Post and Planning Section will be stationed at Circuit House, Tura while the Operation Section (OS), Staging Area (SA), Relief Camp (RC), Logistic Section (LS) will be at Tura Government College including the Base, Camp and Medical Aid Post at Tura Government College.
In West Jaintia Hills, the mock exercise will be conducted in Jowai, Amlarem Civil Sub Division, Thadlaskein and Laskein C & RD Blocks.
The Deputy Commissioner has requested the Publics not to panic and to extend full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the exercise.
