In view of the approaching of World Environment Day on June 5 and the launch of Mission LiFE by the central government, the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills has requested the people of the district to actively take part in the celebrations.
Several generic suggestions were provided by the DC, namely to save energy in the home, on the road, through exercise, etc; to save water, diversify crops and plant less water-intensive crops, etc; refuse single-use plastic, participate in and mobilise participation for clean-up drives of cities and water bodies, reuse glass containers, etc; repair electronic devices in order to reduce e-waste; eat more sustainably; reduce general waste; and adopt healthier lifestyles.
